Laser Hair Removal

Treatments that really work
Through a process called Selective Photothermolysis laser light is passed through the skin and is absorbed by pigment in the hair follicle. The heat generated by the laser light both injures the follicle and inhibits future growth, while leaving the skin unharmed

Average treatment series
There are a number of factors that will determine how many treatments are required to achieve maximum results. For example, skin colour, skin type, the colour and coarseness of the hair.” Generally you can expect to need between 6 to 10 treatments (4 to 8 weeks apart) for optimal results.

Typical treatment sessions
Sessions for an upper lip or small bikini area can take as little as 15 minutes, while larger areas on back and legs may require up to 1 hour or more.

How permanent is Hair Removal?
The Lyra has been approved by the FDA for getting permanent reduction of unwanted hair and ingrown hair. Most clients experience up to 25% reduction in the hair growth of the follicles that were in the anagen (active) phase after the initial treatment. The number of treatments required to achieve optimum results is based on individual client’s characteristics including the specific area being treated, the colour and the coarseness of the hair and the client’s skin type. Clinical results to date have shown that majority of the clients require 6 to 10 treatments to achieve significant permanent reduction.

Safe and effective treatments

Laserstop® uses a long-pulsed Nd-Yag laser that delivers a low-fluenced light into the dermis. Since there is minimal absorption of 1064 nm light in the epidermis, there is no epidermal injury. FDA has approved this laser for safe and effective treatments for Men and Women of ALL ethnic origins and skin types including tanned skin.

Laser Skin Rejuvenation

Treatments that really work
A low fluence light is delivered into the dermis, where the heat will stimulate fibroblasts to form new collagen. It is clinically shown to reduce wrinkles and improve skin tones by non-invasively stimulating new collagen production The formation of new collagen may; soften and plump up lines and folds, help to smooth out texture of skin, improve skin laxity, and minimise pore size by “filling” with the new collagen.

Who is a likely candidate for skin rejuvenation?
Men and women who have noticed the sign of ageing and sun-damaged skin will enjoy the improvement offered by the skin rejuvenation program.

How many treatments do I need?
6 treatments (one month apart) are needed for optimum results The results vary from client to client. In some cases improvements are noticed after the third treatment. However in our experience the desired results are achieved after the sixth treatment. This treatment may be may be necessary (for maintenance purposes) every 6 months.

What do I do between treatments?
Continue the use of your normal skin care products for your face. You must use a good sunblock of at least SPF 45 SPF on treated area and avoid sun exposure. We want you to use the post-laser cream for use after the first and subsequent treatments.

Spider Vein Removal

How does it work?
The laser energy is absorbed by the pigment in your blood and collapses the unwanted vein. The laser energy is delivered through a hand-held device with a cooling tip that protects your skin.

How long does it take?
Most treatments will take between 15-30 minutes depending on the size of the area to be treated. Prescribed topical anesthetics should be applied 30-90 minutes before the treatment time (this is greatly encouraged to increase your comfort).

What are the benefits?
Our advanced technology minimizes the redness and bruising normally associated with traditional treatments. Best of all, our technology allows us to treat people of any ethnic origin and skin type including tanned skin.

When will you see results?
The appearance of leg veins will either dramatically fade or completely disappear during the treatment. Some vessels may show temporary swelling that will subside after a few hours to a few days. The redness of the treated vessels will gradually disappear as the healing process occurs. This may take between two and eight weeks.

How often can you have it done?
Most patients see excellent improvement after just two treatments. Everyone responds differently to treatments, with some needing only one treatment and others requiring a third treatment. You can optimise your results by closely following the post treatment instructions. The usual treatment interval is eight weeks.

Acne Treatment

The Skin
The body’s largest organ is the skin. It is a filter from the inside as well as from the outside. It also serves to regulate and maintain our body temperature.

What causes Acne?
Normally, the cells that line the hair follicle are shed (approximately every 28 days) as new cells take their place. The dead cells combine with the oil or sebum and try to find their way to the skin’s surface where they will be washed away. Some follicles produce cells that stick tightly together so they never make it to the surface. These cells accumulate, mix with more oil and bacteria and then form a plug. You can’t see this because it’s all happening underneath the surface, but acne is starting to form. As more oil is produced, the follicle swells and becomes inflamed.

Treatment
The treatment is designed for oily, acne and impure problem skin. The aim of the treatment is to clear the skin and refine its texture. The treatments are recommended every 2 to 3 weeks.

Definitions
Sebum- the oil that is produced by your sebaceous glands. Sweat glands and oil glands are different. Micro comeo- build-up of sebum and other substance from your skin, i.e. cells, pigment and bacteria. This is under your skin but the acne has begun. Comedone- blackhead, a plug of sebaceous matter obstructing the sebaceous duct. Open comedo/Blackhead- visible enlarged pores filled with a plug of dead skin cells and oils. The dark colour is a combination of cells and oxidised oil. Closed comedo/Whitehead – compacted layers of dead skin cells and oil. Looks like a small white bump under the surface. Acne- an eruption of inflamed pimples on the face. Pimples, whiteheads, blackheads, zits, whatever acne is a condition that affects almost all teenagers and 20% of the adults.

A normal follicle looks like this:

Both whiteheads and blackheads start out as a “microcomedone”. The picture below is a microcomedone

The result of a microcomedone can be one of two scenarios. A blackhead or a whitehead: When the trapped sebum and bacteria stay below the skin surface, a whitehead is formed

A blackhead occurs when the trapped sebum and bacteria open to the surface and turn black due to melanin, the skin's pigment. Blackheads can last for a long time because the contents very slowly drain to the surface.

Remember; skin changes as you change, internally and externally and according to environment and climate. Awareness and good maintenance of your skin is a balance and the key to healthy and beautiful skin.
